Can a non-resident start a US LLC without visiting the US?
Yes, the whole thing is remote. Formation, the EIN, a business bank account and the annual filings can all be done from outside the US. No visa is needed at any step. What trips people up is the order, because an EIN application before the LLC exists has nothing to attach to.
The order that works
Form the LLC with a registered agent, then apply for the EIN on Form SS-4, then open the bank account with the EIN and your passport. An ITIN comes later and only if you personally have a US filing obligation.
Choosing a state
Wyoming is the common default for non-residents on cost and privacy. Delaware matters mainly if you plan to raise venture capital, and it costs more every year to stay there.
