Can a US LLC hold a euro account?

Short answer

Not at a US bank. Mercury and Relay are USD-only, so euros arriving by wire are converted on the way in. To hold an actual EUR balance you pair the US account with a multi-currency provider such as Wise Business. Most founders end up running both rather than choosing.

Why the US account cannot do it

A US business bank account is a dollar account. It can receive an international wire in euros, but the money lands as dollars at that bank's rate, which is where the cost hides.

The usual structure

Keep the US account for anything that needs US bank details, such as Stripe payouts, and hold EUR or GBP balances with a provider built for it. Both sit under the same LLC and the same EIN.
