US company formation for non resident with bank account
US company formation for a non resident with a bank account is two jobs, not one — and the second is the one that fails. Registering the company is administrative and predictable. Getting an account opened is an application to an institution that can say no, and nothing about forming the company obliges it to say yes.

Why the two get sold as one thing
Because you need both and nobody wants half. But a provider who lists "LLC + bank account" for a fixed fee is selling you a formation and an application. The honest version of that sentence has the word application in it, and the providers who leave it out are the ones to be careful with.
US company formation for non resident with bank account: the order
- The company — articles, registered agent, operating agreement. Days.
- The EIN on Form SS-4. Without a US taxpayer number the IRS online application is closed to you, so it goes by fax or post. Weeks.
- The address and the agent in place before you apply, not after a rejection.
- The account. Cannot start before the EIN exists.
Everything waits on the EIN. If you are planning around a launch date, plan around that step and nothing else.
What decides the bank's answer
- Your country of residence. The first filter. Some institutions exclude particular countries outright, and that list moves.
- What the business does. Crypto, gambling, adult content and money services are excluded nearly everywhere.
- Whether the documents agree with each other. A name that reads "Northbound Studio LLC" on the certificate and "Northbound Studios LLC" on the EIN letter stalls the application.
- The business description. "Consulting" reads as evasive to a compliance reviewer. Naming the product, the customers and how they pay does not.

What nobody can promise you
- No one can guarantee the account. Not us, not any formation provider. The institution decides, after the company exists.
- A package price is not an approval. If a provider's page implies the account is included rather than applied for, that is the thing to ask about.
- The company does not make you tax resident in the US, and the account does not either.
- Fintech accounts are not always held at a bank. Balances frequently sit at partner institutions, which matters for deposit insurance.
What raises the odds
Nothing exotic — the file being right the first time. The certificate and the EIN letter matching to the character, an operating agreement that exists, proof of address inside 90 days, and two sentences describing the business that a stranger could repeat back. A first rejection is harder to reverse at the same institution than to avoid.
The filing that follows
Once the company exists it owes Form 5472 with a pro-forma Form 1120 every year, at zero revenue and with no US income, with a $25,000 penalty for missing it. Worth knowing before you buy a bundle rather than after.
Common questions
Can I get the company and the account without visiting the US?
The company, always. The account, usually with a fintech provider and often not with a traditional bank — that is the main difference between the two routes.
How long between forming and being able to invoice?
Company in days, EIN in weeks, account after the EIN. The EIN is the constraint.
What if the account is refused?
Diagnose what failed, fix it, apply elsewhere meanwhile. A refusal is not reported to a shared register, so one institution's answer does not follow you.
Do I need an ITIN for the account?
No. The EIN is the company's number and is what a business account application asks for. An ITIN is personal and matters for personal filings and personal credit.
